This is the 2nd year I was able to spend time with Kyra and Erica up at Girls Camp. It was a great week with a lot of memories made. We've got flag football going on in the background. The theme was CBU: Challenge to Become University. Our ward was red. At the game they had Camp Aerie-ettes do a half time dance complete with popcorn and snow cones for treats. We had a field day one afternoon with A LOT of great group, team-building games and a day of mini classes. Flag raising and devotionals every morning and night and a day hike to boot. The group "Mercy River" came up one evening to do a private concert for us.

Young Women in Excellence
A week or so ago, the girls were celeberated at our ward's Young Women in Excellence. One of the activities was for parents to tell what flower they chose to represent their daughter and why. I chose Virginia Bluebells for Kyra. The true blue color represented her loyalty to friends and family; the many blooms represented her multitude of talents; and the bells symbolized her beautiful singing voice.
For Erica I chose the Woodland Hyacinth. Anything that grows in the woods represents Erica -- she is very earthy and a no-nonsense girl, unless Kyra gets ahold of her. I also chose a flower that has multiple blooms because Erica is very multi-talented, especially in her storytelling imagination, her piano playing, her trumpet playing and her ballroom dancing. I also picked this flower because when one looks at it, your eyes dart around trying to take everything in -- instead of lingering on one flower. That represents Erica's speed: she types fast, walks fast, talks fast, plays music fast, thinks fast, writes fast....you name it, she's a Speed Demon.
